Museum launch

Faringdon now has its own museum, located in the Pump House in the Market Place. It was assembled and curated by Faith Carpenter and incorporates a collection of fossils provided by the Oxfordshire Geology Trust from the Faringdon Sponge Gravels . At the museum launch event on July 18 2019, Bill Horsfield of OGT explained why the local occurrence of these fossils justified their designation as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
